Membership

If you’re interested in becoming a member of The Uproot Project, fill out our membership application. Once your application is processed, you’ll get access to our Slack channel (look out for an invite in your inbox!), newsletter, events, and more. This network is by journalists of color and for journalists of color. Your needs and feedback matter. Be sure to fill this out to connect with us and stay in the loop.

Fill out the membership application, and select the “full member” tier. Provide verification that you are a working journalist with clips, or letter from employer, or other documentation.  
Cost: $0
Fill out the membership application, and select the “full member, non-journalist” tier. Provide verification that you are: A student (Enrollment verification letter from university or other documentation) Academic in journalism or environmental sciences or a related field (Proof of employment.)

Fill out the membership application, and select the “associate member” tier. Provide verification that you are:  A public relations or communications professional (LinkedIn profile, bio page on employer’s website or letter from employer.)  

Database

The Uproot Project Database is a critical resource for journalists who are seeking to connect with editors, mentors, experts, sources, and other journalists of color within the environmental space. As a network by and for environmental and climate journalists of color, The Uproot Project is committed to diversity in the media, which means spotlighting diverse voices. The people you will find in our database identify as Black, Indigenous, or other people of color, who have exercised expertise in climate, science, social justice, and environmental spaces.
