The fabulous blog Letters of Note has been delving into the letters of Ronald Reagan, and posted this gem on Twitter. Just look at that disregard for the environment, denying federal relief funds for what is clearly a disaster area!
I gotta say, the idea here — marshaling volunteer forces for cleanup instead of spending federal money — isn’t bad, especially when the cleanup in question is some kid’s dirty underwear and not an oil spill or something. Hey, remember when Republicans’ small-government response to “I need help cleaning my room” would be “okay, you should organize some help cleaning your room” instead of “your room’s not dirty! What room? I don’t see a room”?
