There aren’t many Sumatran tigers left in the world — just 300 in the wild, according to AFP — and Melati, a Sumatran tiger living at the London Zoo, just gave birth to a new one, the zoo’s first Sumatran tiger cub in 17 years.

And, there’s video. Really candid video. If you are interested in seeing a tiger cub and afterbirth splooge out of a Sumatran tiger uterus, by all means, start watching at the beginning. Really, go for it.

But if you are more interested in seeing a tiger mom bond with her cub, we recommend skipping to about one minute in. All the squee, none of the splat.

The cub doesn’t have name yet, and zookeepers haven’t determined its gender. It’s super cute, though. We think it might even hold us over til Panda Cam comes back.
