Is Lord James of Blackheath trolling us all? It kinda seems like it, because why else would you accuse bicyclists of being suicidally antagonistic?

Lord James is a businessman and a (surprise!) conservative member of Parliament’s House of Lords, and usually spends his days saving failing businesses. That is, when he’s not saying ridiculous things like this:

I have seen cyclists … stand in the middle of the road with a camera, and defy you to run them down while they photograph you doing it. That’s what they’re longing for …

[Cyclists are trying to create] a new and separate society in London, in which cyclists think they have a superior law and control over everybody in a motor car.

Yikes. Gizmodo points out that there’s been a spate of cyclist deaths in London recently, making Lord James’ remarks in especially poor taste.

Although there are definitely some asshole cyclists — just like there are jerky drivers and meanypants hot-air-balloon pilots — you have to be a special brand of irrational to think any cyclist WANTS to get hit by a two-ton sack of pain.
