Sometimes, ad agencies have amazing ideas. Like bikes that tweet while you ride them. Here’s how ad agency Razorfish came up with that concept for South by Southwest:

Grist State of Emergency | A limited-run newsletter from Grist, exploring the ways climate disasters are reshaping elections. Delivered every Tuesday until Election Day.

“What fun things can we do at South by?” “How about free bikes?” “How about free bikes that talk? Even better.”

I love it when a plan comes together.

So now there will be 20 “self-tweeting” bicycles at South by Southwest, all of them free to use. Each bike has its own Twitter account, where it will discourse on its location, the weather, and topics of local interest (mainly, food trucks). Anyone can grab one and go for a ride. As the project’s website, usemeleaveme.com, puts it: “I’m the town bike. Everyone gets a ride.” Gross.
