The intersections between food and climate are infinite and agriculture is one of the leading causes of greenhouse gas emissions in the US. It is also one of the sectors that touches everyone in the country on a daily basis: as we shop, prepare, cook, and share meals together, we are making choices that impact the climate every step of the way. Grist has acquired The Counter, a digital food and agriculture magazine, and is launching a food-focused news desk. Join Grist to meet our two new staff reporters who are investigating these intersections: from how food is grown and who grows it, to how it is transported, to the cultural meanings of how we prepare and share our meals.
This experience also included a grounding exercise from Shane Bernardo (Grist 50 ‘20) that showcases how Shane, as a facilitator and healer, embraces food as a cultural ritual.
