There may not strictly be streets in Antarctica, but that hasn’t stopped Google from trekking its Street View cameras through some of the continent’s most impressive landmarks. Now you can visit penguin rookeries, the South Pole Telescope, and the actual (ceremonial) South Pole without leaving your desk.
The huts of polar explorers Robert Scott and Ernest Shackleton are particularly interesting — they’re full of antique clothing, containers, and other contemporary artifacts. You can’t quite zoom in enough to read the labels on the cans, but it’s close.
Most of us will never get to Antarctica, but now at least you can feel like you’ve … sat in front of your computer for half an hour clicking through pictures of it. At least you won’t have to eat any of your comrades.
