April 21, 2006--Apple® today announced an expansion of its successful recycling program, offering free computer take-back and recycling with the purchase of a new Macintosh® system beginning in June. US customers who buy a new Mac® through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com) or Apple's retail stores will receive free shipping and environmentally friendly disposal of their old computer as part of the Apple Recycling program. Equipment received by the program in the US is recycled domestically and no hazardous material is shipped overseas.

Electric car gets its kicks on Route 66
Electric car booster Remy Chevalier -- editor at large for the zine Electrifying Times and last seen at swanky parties with Grist higher-ups -- is getting his kicks on Route 66. No, literally. If you're in Chicago next Friday, head to the Funky Buddha lounge to help Remy and Co. kick off a two-week trip from Chicago to Los Angeles on the infamous Route 66.

The biggest environmental dilemma
I need this decided once and for all: is the prefix eco- pronounced "eh-ko" (rhymes with gecko, the lizard) or "ee-ko" (rhymes with Biko, the South African activist)?
Summer Rayne Oakes says "eh-ko." I've always said "ee-ko."
This is the most pressing environmental dilemma of our time! Please vote!
