Sussman served on the EPA transition team with Jackson.

This will be his second stint at the EPA; he was deputy administrator under President Clinton from 1993 to 1994. After leaving the EPA, he was a partner at the law firm Latham & Watkins from 1996 to 2007, where he headed the firm’s environmental practice and also lobbied until 2006.
